Calm A Child With Natural Herbs

A strong-willed energetic child can make a mother's life miserable. The doctor says drugs are best, but Mom says no. What natural alternatives are there to calm a child? There are many, and they really do work without harmful drugs or chemicals.


Instructions


1. Ensure that your child is eating a healthy diet and is getting adequate sleep. Too much sugar or caffeine can put a child into hyperspace.








2. Make Mood Tea with the ingredients listed above: chamomile, lavender spikes, kava leaves, lemon balm leaves, marjoram, valerian flowers, and water. Mix all of the herbs in a quart of water and steep. Strain and serve warm or cold. You can save the remainder in the refrigerator so you always have it on hand. You should dilute the tea with water for a child under the age of 2 or steep it for less time.


Invite your child to a tea party and encourage the child to drink some of the tea.








3. Consider giving the child a relaxing herbal bath. Make a mixture of the herbs listed above: borage, black cohosh, motherwort, vervain, hops, valerian. Place them in a square of cheesecloth. Close tightly with a string and let it steep in a hot bath. Remove it when the bathwater is the proper temperature for the child's bath.


4. Consider having lots of lavender plants around your house. As you walk by, run your hands through the leaves to release the relaxing scent.


5. Make a small pillow using lavender as the stuffing. Simply take a 10-inch square of fabric, place a few tablespoons of lavender in it and tie it up tightly. Have the child hold it while you read a calming story.
