Change Air Intake

You can purchase a replacement intake system at auto parts stores.

Replacing a factory air intake system improves your car's performance by increasing airflow to the internal combustion engine. You may want to replace your intake system if you notice wear or wish to upgrade engine performance. Clean your air filter at the same time. Both jobs can be done in your garage in under an hour.

Instructions

1. Turn off the engine and let it cool for 30 minutes. Open the air filter assembly and remove the air filter. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen and remove the mounting screws.

2. Detach the air intake hose from the throttle body by removing the clamps or screws holding it in place. Remove electronic components, such as the airflow sensor.

3. Install the new intake system. Attach the air box and air filter using your old screws. Attach the replacement air intake hose to the engine. Replace any electronic components your removed in Step 2.
