Make A Rhinestone Or Crystal Floral Pick

Use rhinestones and crystals to add sparkle to your floral arrangements.

Decorative floral picks add interest to a traditional flower arrangement. Rhinestone and crystal picks are popular in bouquets and arrangements at weddings and parties. You can make these glittery picks with some basic supplies that you can purchase from many craft and floral supply stores. To decorate your arrangements, scatter the picks throughout the layout. You can also add picks to the center of larger flowers for extra interest and sparkle.

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of floral wire that is three quarters of the length of the floral pick.

2. Bend the end of the floral wire with the pliers to form an "L" shape. The bent portion should be slightly shorter than the width of the rhinestone or crystal.

3. Apply a small drop of adhesive to the back of the rhinestone or crystal and place the short end of the floral wire into the glue. If the glue does not fully cover the wire, add a small amount on top of the wire.

4. Set the end of the floral pick into the glue so that the rhinestone and the wire adhere to the top of the pick. Use enough glue to hold the pieces together without the glue dripping around the edges of the rhinestone or crystal. The long end of the floral wire should extend along the pick. Hold the pick in place for a few minutes while the glue sets.

5. Stick the floral pick into a block of floral foam after the glue is set. Leave the picks in the foam until the glue is completely dry. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.

6. Wrap the pick wire around the length of floral wire that you glued to the rhinestone or crystal and the pick. Cover both wires with floral tape and insert the picks into your arrangements.
