Get Rid Of Nausea

Nausea can precede vomiting, which can lead to serious complications like dehydration.

Nausea, or discomfort of the stomach that can precede vomiting, is a symptom of a host of conditions and diseases. Less serious causes of nausea include motion sickness, pregnancy or overeating. Nausea is also a symptom of serious medical issues like heart attacks, ulcers and some forms of cancer. If your nausea is the result of a minor condition, there are simple treatments you can try at home to help settle your stomach and bring relief. If nausea lasts more than a few days, seek medical attention.

Instructions

1. Walk outside and get some fresh air. Sometimes fresh oxygen is all that is needed to help get nausea to pass.

2. Drink small sips of water, or another clear liquid, while sitting in a comfortable position. This can help prevent vomiting and will keep you hydrated in case you do start vomiting.

3. Drink ginger ale, preferably flat, which can help settle the stomach. Other ginger products, like ginger candies or ginger tea, can be used in place of ginger ale. Ginger is believed to aid the digestive system and can also help settle your stomach.

4. Eat crackers or other bland food, taking small bites and drinking lots of water while eating. If your nausea is not caused by overeating, getting a small amount of bland food in your stomach can help alleviate your symptoms.

5. Eat bananas. Bananas are rich with nutrients, have a simple and soothing texture and also stimulate the production of the mucus that lines the stomach. This mucus lining can help soothe ulcers, heartburn and other conditions that can cause nausea.
