Mold spores that end up indoors typically only cause problems if they land on damp spots and begin growing. Without moisture and a food source (such as paper or wood) molds can't survive, which is why they typically flourish in your bathroom or kitchen. Molds can cause various health problems because they produce allergens, irritants and toxic substances, such as mycotoxins. These can lead to irritated skin, infections and asthma or other respiratory problems. One of the best ways to clean up mold in your home naturally is with tea tree oil, a fungicide as well as an antiseptic, germicide and antibacterial agent.
Instructions
1. Purchase tea tree oil in your local health food store or online (See resources). Though expensive, this fungicide kills most mold families when applied and just a few drops will suffice.
2. Fill spray bottle with 2 cups of water; add 2 tsp. of tea tree oil and shake to blend.
3. Spray directly onto moldy areas without rinsing and let the oil sit until the smell of the tea tree oil dissipates (may take a day or two). In order for the oil to work the first time, it must penetrate deeply into the furrows and pores of the surface on which the mold resides, and the area must be kept free of moisture. Some molds and mildews are deeply entrenched, so the first application may not work. On the other hand, what you think is continued growth may just be mold residue; the tea tree oil does not get rid of the black residue. You
