Bathe With Salt

Regular use of bath salts is beneficial to the skin and health.

Bath salts have been added to baths for many years. Skin, some health conditions and reducing stress levels all can benefit from adding this natural mineral to a tub full of warm water. Epsom and sea salt are two salts commonly used in the bath to provide exfoliating and skin-softening results, as well as providing a soothing atmosphere to relax in. The use of Epsom salts helps soothe sore muscles and provides the body with important minerals, such as magnesium and sulfates, which relax help the body release toxins. Bathing with salt is easy, when following a simple regime.

Instructions

Bathing with Plain Bath Salts

1. Fill your bathtub with warm water.

2. Add 2 cups bath salts, either Epsom salts or sea salt. Stir the salt into the warm bath water.

3. Soak in the bathtub for a minimum of 12 minutes to reap the benefits of Epsom salts. Extend your bath time, for longer relaxation and enjoyment, by adding warm water to the tub as the water cools.

Homemade Bath Salt Scrub

4. Pour 1/2 cup of bath salts and 1/2 cup white sugar into a glass jar.

5. Add 1/4 cup olive oil and four drops of lavender essential oil to the sugar and salt. Stir with a spoon to mix the ingredients.

6. Apply the salt scrub as a pre-bath scrub or during bath time. Rub a handful of salt scrub over your body, applying more as needed.
